Acids,Bases, and Salts

How is the concentration of hydronium ions (H3O+) affected when a solution of an acid is diluted?

The process of mixing water to a concentrated acid or a base is called dilution. The dilution of an acid or a base is done to reduce its strength. The concentrated acid contains a fixed amount of hydrogen ion per unit volume of the solution. When more water is added to the acid, the number of hydronium ion per unit volume decreases, so the concentration of acid decreases.
