Analogous organs: Organs having different basic designs but similar functions are called analogous organs. Wings of birds and wings of insects are examples of analogous organs.

Homologous organs: Organs having the same basic designs but different functions are called homologous organs. Homologous organs represent common ancestry. Flippers of dolphins, arm of human, forelimb of horse and wings of bat are the examples of homologous organs.
