How Do Organisms Reproduce?

Why does menstruation occur?

Every month ovary releases one egg. The fertilization of the egg takes place in the fallopian tube that transmits the fertilized egg to the uterus. The uterus lining becomes thick and spongy that providing nourishment to the embryo. If the egg is not fertilized, this lining is no longer needed and hence it slowly breaks and comes out through the vagina as blood and mucous. This process takes place every month and lasts for two to eight days. This cycle is known as Menstruation.
