Chemical reactions and equations

Why is respiration considered an exothermic reaction? Explain

The exothermic reaction is the chemical reaction in which the energy is released in the form of heat or light. In an exothermic reaction, the energy of the reactants is more than the energy of the products. During the respiration process, the glucose present in the body combines with the oxygen gas to form carbon dioxide gas and water. It is a type of combustion reaction in which a tremendous amount of energy is liberated.

C6H12O6 (s) + 6 O2 (g) → 6 CO2 (g) + 6 H2O (l) + Energy

Hence, respiration is an exothermic reaction.
