Acids,Bases, and Salts

Why should curd and sour substances not be kept in brass and copper vessels?

Curd contains lactic acid while the sour substances contain citric acid. When these substances are kept in a brass or a copper vessel, the acid present in the substance reacts with the metal, to form a compound that is poisonous and can affect our health badly.
