Reproduction in Plants

How does the process of fertilisation take place in flowers?

The process of fusion of male and female gamete to form a zygote is called fertilization. The process of pollination is followed by fertilization. The pollen grains which land on stigma need to be transferred to the ovary to fuse with female germ cells. The pollen tube grows out from pollen grains to travel through style and reach the ovary. Pollen tube has two male germ cells. Each ovule has two polar nuclei and one female germ cell (egg).
