Q
Respiration in Organisms

Question:

Why does an athlete breathe faster and deeper than usual after finishing the race?

Answer:

Breathing is the process by which air rich in oxygen is taken inside (inhalation) the body and air rich in carbon dioxide is expelled from the body (exhalation) with the help of a breathing organ. When an athlete is running, his body needs more oxygen gas. To supply more oxygen in the body, the breathing rate of an athlete will increase. Thus, an athlete breathe faster and deeper than usual after finishing the race.
