Electric Current and Its Effect

An electrician is carrying out some repairs in your house. He wants to replace a fuse by a piece of wire. Would you agree? Give reasons for your response.

No, this is a bad idea to replace a fuse with a piece of wire. Wires which have low melting points are used as fused wires. When the excessive current flows through the circuit, the fuse wire melts quickly and breaks the circuit. But the melting point of the metallic wire is high so it will not melt and break if there is overloading.
