David is observing his image in a plane mirror. The distance between the mirror and his image is 4 m. If he moves 1 m towards the mirror, then the distance between David and his image will be

We know in the case of a plane mirror, the distance between the object and the mirror is equal to the distance between the image and the mirror.

The distance between the image and the mirror, d = 4 m {Given}

Distance between David and the mirror = Distance between the image and the mirror

Therefore, the distance between the mirror and David, D = 4 m

If David moves 1 m towards the mirror, then D = 4 m - 1 m = 3 m

Again, D = d = 3m because the distance between David and the mirror is equal to the distance between the image and the mirror.

Therefore, the distance between David and the image of the object will be

D + d = 3m + 3m = 6 m.
