Q
Conservation of Plants and Animals

Question:

Explain how deforestation leads to reduced rainfall.

Answer:

Clearing forests by cutting trees on large scale is called deforestation. Plants absorb underground water through their roots and release it into the atmosphere in the form of water vapour during transpiration. This water vapour goes up and forms clouds and helps in bringing rain. There will be a reduction in rainfall if fewer trees are available on the earth. Hence, deforestation leads to reduced rainfall.
