Chapter - 2 Friction

Q&A -Ask Doubts and Get Answers

Explain why objects moving in fluids must have special shapes.

The frictional force exerted by fluids is called drag. When objects move through fluids, they have to overcome friction acting on them. So, objects are given special shapes called streamlined shapes.

The streamlined shapes are narrow from the front and broader at the back. The streamlined shapes do not lose much energy in overcoming friction as it experienced minimum friction and move in fluids easily. That’s why the shape of vehicles used in fluids are streamlined.
