What is the angle of incidence of a ray if the reflected ray is at an angle of 90° to the incident ray?

We know that the angle of incidence is always equal to the angle of reflection i.e. angle i = angle r----- eq(1)

It is given that the angle between the incident ray and the reflected ray is 90^o.

angle i + angle r = 90^o

From eq(1)

angle i + angle i = 90^o

2angle i = 90^o

angle i = frac{90^o}{2}

angle i = 45^o

Hence, the angle of incidence = 45^o
