Define the term “tissue”.

Answer:

A multicellular organism contains millions of cells. Each of these cells is specialized to carry out a function and each specialized function is taken by a different group of cells. The groups of similar cells that perform a common function and have a similar origin are called tissue. Blood, phloem, and muscles are examples of tissue.
