Q
Diversity in Living Organisms

Question:

How are the criteria for deciding divisions in plants different from the criteria for deciding the subgroups among animals?

Answer:

Because of the difference in the body design of animals and plants, different criteria are used to classify animals and plants. The plants are classified based on the presence or absence of cell wall, differentiated or undifferentiated plant body, presence or absence of seed, and different arrangement of seeds. But we cannot classify animals on these criteria. The animals are classified based on the body structure like presence or absence of coelom, layers of cells, etc.
