The Fundamental Unit of Life

How does an Amoeba obtain its food?

Amoeba is a unicellular organism that has finger-like projections called pseudopodia. The pseudopodia change its shape and size that helps amoeba to engulf food. This projection fuses with the food particle to form a food vacuole. The complex food substances broke into simpler substances inside this vacuole. The simpler substances diffuse into the cytoplasm while the undigested material is thrown out of the cell. This process is called endocytosis.
