Nutrition in Animals

Name the type of carbohydrate that can be digested by ruminants but not by humans. Give the reason also.

The grass-eating animals (like cows, buffaloes, goats, etc.) are called ruminants. They quickly swallow the grass and store it in a separate part of the stomach called the rumen. The grass is rich in cellulose. Ruminants have cellulose digesting bacteria in their rumen that is not present in humans.
